How To Get A Golf Scholarship.

There are many different ways to secure a golf scholarship and they are extremely in demand, and with college golf teams only having an average team size of around 10 golfers, how do we make sure you’re giving yourself the best shot at securing a scholarship.

  • Academics: Having an amazing GPA or test score is a great way to stand out to coaches. It makes you available to potential academic scholarship money, in addition to showcasing to the coach that you are someone who will be able to succeed in a college environment and not someone who will be an eligibility risk.
  • Level awareness: Reaching out to programs where you don’t fit the level athletically or perhaps don’t qualify academically is an easy way to waste both yours and college coaches time. Do the research on college programs you are interested in. Do you fit the level competitively, academically do you fit the schools admissions requirements? But that’s not everything, what level do they play at, do you fit the eligibility requirements of that division? All things to consider.
  • Online Profile: Do you have an online recruitment profile? If coaches aren’t able to evaluate in person, you need to create a recruitment profile. This will showcase your highlights, swing, average golf score, recent achievements etc. This will allow coaches to assess your ability without having to be right in front of you. Because the number of scholarships are so low and they are allowed to divide them, this means that full ride scholarships tend to be quite rare. There are however other ways available to help decrease the costs.
