An Irish youngster is targeting a move to David Beckham’s Inter Miami in next year’s MLS draft.
Patryk Kibler, 23, from Arklow, Co Wicklow, currently plays as a defender for The University of Findlay in Ohio, but plans to enter the 2022 MLS draft.
Born in Poland, Patryk moved to Ireland at a young age and began his playing career at Arklow Town FC and Greystones United.
After competing in trials with 63 other footballers to play in the USA, he secured one of only four scholarships and travelled to Chicago to play for Morton College before moving to The University of Findlay.
Patryk said: “We’ve started our season with two wins from two and the team has a huge potential. Possibly not the best talented team but with the determination, work ethic, leadership and hunger we have in the team, I am not expecting anything else than back-to-back conference championships following with a national tournament appearance.”
The draft sees MLS teams select players from colleges across the USA to join their rosters and Patryk has said that being selected by David Beckham’s Inter Miami CF team would be a dream come true.
He added: “I have a very specific outlook on life. I am a huge believer in hard work ethic and that if you truly believe in what you are doing and put all your dedication towards it and make certain sacrifices, you will succeed.
“My dream is to play in the MLS and to be drafted by Inter Miami CF would be incredible. I am focused, determined but also patient waiting for my moment, I know that I will accomplish my dream by being hungry but staying humble.”
Ryan Cook, owner and founder of NextUpRecruitment, who helped Patryk in his move to the University of Findlay said: “Patryk is an extremely talented footballer and that shows in his recent performances.
“At NextUpRecruitment we know what college coaches are looking for and as soon as Patryk approached us we knew we would be inundated with offers.
“The sky really is the limit for Patryk and we can see him going all the way, so bring on next year’s draft.”
